The calculation

Start with the consignor’s percentage.

Multiply the selling price by the consignor’s percentage, then divide by 100. The store keeps the selling price minus that amount.

For a $100 sale with a 60% consignor share, the consignor receives $60 and the store keeps $40. “60/40” can mean different things to different stores, so name whose share comes first in your agreement.

Keep the agreed share with the item’s intake details. Our printable checklist helps staff review identity, condition, terms, and tags before an item goes on sale.

How are cents rounded?

The consignor’s share rounds to the nearest cent, with a half-cent rounded up. The store receives the remainder so both shares always add up to the selling price. A $19.99 sale at 50% gives the consignor $10.00 and the store $9.99.

What should I enter after a discount?

Use the final selling price before tax. For an item reduced from $80 to $60, enter 60. This calculator assumes both shares are based on that final selling price.

Is this the final payout owed?

It is a simple split for one sale. Your store’s agreed fees, taxes, refunds, account adjustments, and payout timing can change the amount actually payable. Check those terms separately.

Keep the item, sale, and earnings connected.

ConsignEngine connects inventory intake, checkout, and consignor earnings in one store workspace. Follow a fictional item through the actual software to see how those records fit together.
